The Clash Aragon Ballroom Chicago Illinois September 14, 1979 EX FM Kut Korners (KKP C01) Contrast Clause This torrent comes from a different source than this torrent http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=148342 Lineage Trade CDR `The Clash Chicago 1979’ (spacerabbit 2002) FM Broadcast (WXRT 93.1 Chicago) > EAC > Soundforge 8 > CDWave 1.95 > FLAC 8 For this torrent Lineage: Recorded on a Sony HI FI VHS-Scotch HI FI Tape Playback Sony HI FI VHS-Wavelab 5-Traders Little Helper-FLAC 8 Here is the deal with this version and some history behind this broadcast. By 1995, WXRT had broadcasted this at least 3 times. I recorded all 3 of those broadcasts, and unfortunately, I am missing the second. During the second broadcast, there was serious tape issues at WXRT studios. Towards the end of White Riot, the tape sped up and sounded like it litteraly fell apart. I thought that this could be the last time they play this one, but to my surprise, it was broadcasted again in 1995. This IS the 1995 broadcast and the one torrent in the contrast clause that claims to be from 1995, well I doubt that. On the 1995 version, there are skips in Koka Kola and I Fought The Law, which might be from tape splices, I am not sure. I checked it with the above mentioned torrent, and it does not have these skips. Also, the 1995 version does not have Joe saying, "this is a very slow song" before KK. I also check these nuances with my oldest tape, probably from the early 80's, no skips and the Joe quote before KK. I can also confirm that this is from 1995 by 1. The DJ (Frank E Lee) comments about the rumour of the Clash reuniting in 1995 for Lolapalooza 2. My VHS tape also has the Glastonbury Festival on it from 1995 3. The 1995 broadcast was sponsered by Budweiser as the Sunday Night Budweiser Concert 4. The early 80's version was broadcasted by a woman, I believe to be Wendy Rice 5. The early 80's version was The Sunday Night Un-Concert, sponsered by 7-up and TDK tape. This was when WXRT did not have major advertising, and the DJ's did most of the commercials. This version, despite the minor flaws, is not as flat and has good high end. I only used very minor denoising in Wavelab, and used no EQ at all. I also included Koka Kola and the DJ outro from the early 80's source. Track Listing 01. DJ Intro 02. Jimmy Jazz. 03. I'm so bored with the USA 04. Complete Control 05. London Calling 06.
